James Eckhouse to Play Robert McNamara in Broadway's All the Way, Starring Bryan Cranston

James Eckhouse will join the cast of the Broadway transfer of Robert Schenkkan's All the Way, starring Bryan Cranston as President Lyndon B. Johnson. Eckhouse will play Robert McNamara, the longest serving Secretary of Defense who worked under both Presidents John F. Kennedy and LBJ. Eckhouse takes over the role from Arnie Burton, who appeared in the drama's acclaimed run at A.R.T. Directed by Bill Rauch, All the Way will begin previews February 10, 2014 at the Neil Simon Theatre, with opening night set for March 6.

Eckhouse is best known for his role as Jim Walsh on the original Beverly Hills, 90210. His stage credits include The Escort, Six Degrees of Separation and The Goat, or Who Is Sylvia?. Eckhouse's additional TV and film credits include The Good Wife, Masters of Sex, The West Wing, The Avengers, S.W.A.T., One True Thing, Junior, Cocktail, Big and Leaving Normal.

Eckhouse will appear alongside previously announced Emmy winner Bryan Cranston as Lyndon B. Johnson, Michael McKean as J. Edgar Hoover, Brandon J. Dirden as Martin Luther King, Jr., Rob Campbell as Governor George Wallace, Tony nominee John McMartin as Richard Russell, Roslyn Ruff as Coretta Scott King and Fannie Lou Hamer and Robert Petkoff as Hubert Humphrey.

Beginning with the Kennedy assassination, All the Way details the first year of Johnson’s presidency, focusing on his involvement with the Civil Rights Act of 1964. The drama begins on Air Force One on November 23, 1963, as the plane transports the body of President Kennedy back to Washington, D.C., and Johnson summons his courage to take on the role of commander in chief.
